1st Grade played Rockingham expecting a tough game, but confident of coming out on top. Wests started well and went out to a two converted try lead after 15 minutes and were the dominant side for the 1st half. The second half started well and Wests went out to a 24-9 lead, however some poor discipline again and some poor refs decisions let Rockingham back into the game and it ended 24-24. All in all a dissapointment, however we cannot go on playing periods of 13 men against 15, some players need to take a good hard look at themselves as they are letting their team down through "rushes of blood to the head". Try scorers were Benson Auva'a (2), Hendrik Janse Van Rensburg, whilst Brad Linklater kicked 3 conversions and a penalty. Player of the Day was Kiti Fuluna. Next week is Uni. and a far more disciplined display is needed and required.

2nd Grade also played Rockingham and ran out winners by 69-3. A very one sided affair even with at one stage Wests having 2 men in the sin-bin, but it made no difference. Player of the Day Tristan Abbott scored 3 tries, others to score were Mike Browne 1 try, 1 conversion, Mike Ratcliffe 1 try, Craig Barrett 4 conversions, Nathan Wooten 2 tries, Murray Skea 1 try, John-Paul Apulu 1 try, 2 conversions, Marc Lovatt 2 tries. A good win that boosts 2nds percentage. They need to keep it up in future games.

3rd Grade played Mandurah, a side that had given them close runs over the last few seasons. It was good to see a number of former recent 1st Graders out there and their presence had a big bearing on the result, Wests winning 30-12, getting a bonus point for 4 tries. Scorers were Paul Connelly 2 penalties, 2 conversions, Claude Marchesani 1 try, Dwayne Grace 1 try and Greg Plimmer 2 tries. A great performance, all is needed now is regular training together and this side can beat any team on the day.

5th Grade played Mandurah also, and they called for uncontested scrums before the game started. 5ths won 8-7 in a close game. A great effort and thanks to those 3rds and U20's that backed up for 5ths.

Under 20's played Joondalup who had had the wood on Wests for the last few seasons, however in a see-saw game Wests won 18-12. Try scorers were Ben Heenan, Charl Gale, whilst Peter Powderly kicked 1 conversion and 2 penalties. A very good win by the team.

Under 18's played Wanneroo and won 104-5 in a one sided game, with their skill and fitness levels being way above their opponents. Tries to Nic McLennan, Zac Silulu, Anaru Broughton, Hayden Neill (2), Lewis Flood, Heremaia Te Aute (5), Trent Griffen, Paeahi Tamati (2), Jared Co-Cup, Tiri Tuatai, whilst Sheldon Tarawa kicked 11 conversions and Ragu Raveenthran kicked 1 conversion. A very good win and I can see a number of these players playing 1st Grade in a few seasons time.

The Womens team were the only one playing away from home, playing out at Kalamunda, and although they only had 14 players against Kala's 15 they won 17-0. Try scorers were Eddie Faletolu, Ana Parkinson, and Olivia Arahanga who also kicked a conversion. Good win ladies and a good start to your season.
