1st Grade: 1sts took the field knowing that a win was imperative to keep them in the hunt for the four, and they got off to a good start following a Brad Linklator bomb for openside flanker Chris Miles (Millsey) to score under the posts, which Brad converted. Nedlands came back and went out to a 13-7 lead, however Wests kept pressing and stayed in the game. The 2nd half was as exciting as the first with the lead changing hands several times and with minutes to go Wests scored close to the posts to make it 39-32 with the kick to come. Unfortunately Brad missed the conversion, so the feeling in the crowd was not the chance of another draw, however sensible play where we played in their half with time almost up, saw No.8 Willie Lio charge down a clearing kick and chase the ball over the goal line to score taking the score to 44-32 and full time. Other scorers were Mitch Hyde (2), Tim Riley, John Paul Apulu, whilst Brad Linklater kicked a total of 4 conversions and 2 penalties. Player of the day was Willie Lio. This win takes us back into 5th spot, 2 points behind Wanneroo in 4th.

2nd Grade: 2nds started the day in 2nd place on the ladder and Nedlands were 4th. 2nds had their backline decimated through injury so their cause wasn't helped by that, plus having 3 three players in the bin during the match to Nedlands one. Nedlands led 13-7 at the break and went on to win 31-15. Try scorers for Wests were Conrad Tapuosi, Dwayne Grace, whilst John-Paul Apulu kicked 1 conversion and 1 penalty. Wests drop to 4th on the ladder and play Perth Bayswater next week who are 3 points behind them in 5th spot.

3rd Grade: Thirds took the field with 2 flankers playing as midfield backs as their backline players stepped up to 2nd Grade. They had trained well Thursday night and had Hamish Grace (former 1st Grader), turn up to play. At halftime they were down 14-13 having let Nedlands in with 2 runaway tries. However the 2nd half was a different storey at Wests powered away to win 33-14 getting a bonus point and moving them closer to 4th spot on the ladder. Try scorers were Joji Soqoiwasa, Hamish Grace, Dan Broughton, Steve Roberts, and L.Byrne, whilst Aaron Broughton kicked 1 conversion and 2 penalties. A good win and lets keep them coming.

5th Grade: 5ths played a Neddies team filled with players of their top teams of yesteryear. Wests played their hearts out and led 17-16 with time almost up on the clock, however Nedlands got a penalty on the bell and kicked it to win 17-19. Great effort 5ths, keep up the work and the rewards will come.

Under 20's: Under 20's started the day in 3rd on the ladder and took on Nedlands No.1 team who were on top of the ladder. Nedlands led 5-3 at halftime, then Wests kicked a penalty early in the 2nd half to go out to a 6-5 lead. Nedlands came back and scored and converted to go up 12-6, however with about 8 minutes to go Rhys King powered over under the posts to score, with Peter Powderly converting to make it 13-12 to Wests with about 6 minutes remaining. Wests never cleared out of their half from the restart and with time almost up Nedlands got a penalty on the 22 and almost in front of the posts, however their kicker sent it wide and the final whistle went, a very gutsy win to Wests 13-12.

Under 18's: Under 18's on top of the ladder took on 5th placed Nedlands. After a slow start Wests moved out to a 3 try lead and were comfortably ahead at half time. Nedlands scored early in the 2nd half in the corner, but Wests scored 3 more tries to Nedlands one and the final score ended up Wests 36 Nedlands 10. Try scorers for Wests were Zac Silulu (2), Trent Griffin, Paeahi Tamati, and Coree Mahu (2), whilst Sheldon Tarawa kicked 3 conversions. A good win, and congratulations to the Aranmore boys in this side who took out the John Welborn Cup again last Friday night in the curtain raiser to the Force- Brumbies game, beating Kolbe College 55 to 10.
