Round 7 saw Wests host Kalamunda Club at Rosalie Park. Under 19's started proceedings on Field 1 against Kalamunda and after an even first half went into half time leading 13-10. Kalamunda was a number of places further up the ladder and things looked good for an upset, however it wasn't to be with Kalamunda opening up the Wests defence easily and going on to win 39-13. Good games from Keith Bradley, Peter Powderly, Rhys King, and Tom De Buf. Colts cannot make the top half of the draw now, so all players should set their sights on capturing the Division 2 Colts title.

3rds played Arks on Field 2 and after holding Arks to 5-7 for the first 20 minutes and spurning a chance for a penalty in front to go ahead (points on offer), let the floodgates open and went down 12-36. Whilst it's difficult playing these former District Clubs (certainly not a level playing field), with the personnel in the team they can be more competitive, and need someone to step up and show leadership when Richie or Paul are not on the paddock. Tries to Cody Mitchell and Jason Ahipene and a conversion. Keep at it guys there is still the 2nd round.

4ths followed on after 3rds and played Kalamunda 4ths and in another close game for them went down by 17 points to 8. The team is getting closer and will put away a few more teams in the 2nd round.

2nds played Kalamunda who were one place above them on the ladder before the game started. 2nds scored 3 tries in the first 14 minutes and raced out to a 22-0 lead, however they took their foot off the gas and let Kalamunda back into the game with them scoring 2 tries in quick succession before half time. Second half saw Kalamunda score another unconverted try and the score get to 22-19. With time almost up Kalamunda pressed the Wests line and went very close on a number of occasions, getting a penalty in front of the posts out on the 22 and turning down the kick for goal for a tap. They almost made it to the line but were held up and the ref blew for full time, very much to the Wests players relief. Good games from Pugs, Ephraime Stephens, Pat Byron, Robbie Keen, Russell Chapman, promoted up from Colts, Mat O'Brien and Joji Soqoiwasa who led from the front. A tough one next week guys when you play unbeaten Associates.

1sts took the field against Kalamunda knowing a win was needed. They started well and after going behind to a penalty, then scored and led for a period of time 5-3. However Kalamunda scored a converted try, whilst West scored a try and 2 minutes before half time Kala led 12-10. Wests got a very kickable penalty inside Kalas 22, however they then proceeded to play some dumb Rugby by taking a tap (once again points on offer), and throwing an intercept pass which Kala gratefully accepted and scored down the other end under the posts, half time score being 17-10 to Kalamunda. The second half saw Kala score two more tries, one of them from another intercept and Wests post 1 try, the final score being 32-15 to Kalamunda. The general consensus was that some of the players looked as if they didn't want to be there, whilst some poor discipline resulted in two yellow cards. 1sts will need to lift considerably for next weeks clash against Associates.
